Yeshiva
of Belle Harbor

Principal: Mrs. Roseman
President: Jonathan Roberts
Focusing its curriculum on building a
child's self-esteem as well as providing a well-rounded education,
YBH is
the originator of the Alef-Bais Mitzvah Curriculum for Early Childhood.
The curriculum gives each student an extensive Hebrew and secular
education, uses off-site trips to enhance classroom study, and engages
students in a first-hand involvement in chesed projects. This
unique
curriculum won the Behrman Publishing House Curriculum Contest.
The
yeshiva currently has 110 students, with classes ranging from a 2-year-old
nursery through 5th grade. YBH is proud of its well-trained staff,
which
includes many Gruss award winners, its extensive Hebrew and English
resource rooms, and its fully stocked English and Judaica libraries.
YBH is a modern, Orthodox Day School. The school was founded in 1959
and
has established itself as an extremely caring institution. The
classes are
kept small to provide for the individual needs of all the students.
The secular curriculum meets the standards of all private schools and
is
updated as changes take place. YBH students perform in the upper
90th
percentile on standardized tests and this past year YBH had a finalist
in
the citywide spelling bee at Madison Square Garden. The Hebrew/Judaic
curriculum is in keeping with the programs found in the other Day Schools
in the New York Metropolitan area. The classes are conducted in Ivrit
B'ivrit. Staff is sensitive to the needs of all of the children
and
willingly lends the extra support that may be needed in the classroom
setting.
YBH boasts of having a very mixed population on all religious levels.
Please direct any families that might benefit from a modern Orthodox
education to Rabbi Osdoba at the yeshiva office.
